Planning - Self Build Conservatories Direct!

In most cases planning permission will not be required, however in all cases you should check with the local planning authority. You will need planning permission if:

*Your house is a listed building.
*Your house has already been significantly extended.
*Any part of the conservatory is above 4 metres high within 2 meters of the boundary.
*You live in a conservation area.
*If the conservatory is erected on the front of the property, no part of the conservatory should project further forward than the existing wall of the house facing onto a public highway.

Measuring Guide: All Self Build Conservatories come with a comprehensive technical guide to building your conservatory. This guide includes instructions for assembly of the conservatory frame and specification of the base and any brickwork required. You should consult this guide before commencing any building work on your site. The information below is for general guidance only to help you to select the size of conservatory that you require. When measuring your site, please bear in mind the following:
1. All sizes on this web site are in mm.
2. All dimensions are internal frame sizes.
3. All our conservatories are manufactured to within plus or minus 5mm of the given size.
4. Never assume your house wall is plumb – always check using a line and weight. This is especially important when calculating the size of your base. If the wall overhangs the base, add this measurement to your base dimensions. For example, if your wall overhangs by 30 mm and the base for your conservatory is specified as 3000 mm, you would make the overall base projection 3030 mm and pack off the conservatory frame.
5. As a general guide, the size of the conservatory base should be the width and depth of the conservatory frame plus XXmm. Please consult the technical guide for your particular conservatory before commencing building work.
6. When planning your conservatory, always be aware of obstructions – common examples are listed below. If you are in any doubt, consult a professional surveyor before commencing building work.
7. If in doubt, or your conservatory is an odd shape. Or involves overhangs dont hesitate to call, Kevin has 25 years experience in the conservatory and window industry, plus he has an enginering background enabling him to design it bespoke.
